PlayStation Legend Shuhei Yoshida Retires After 31 Years of Service
When Sony initially became involved in the video game market, it was quite a brave step for a corporation that was originally an electronics firm. Most video game industry insiders had never made a video game or console, and many scoffed at the company’s chances of competing directly with Nintendo and Sega. But Sony surprised everyone and extended PlayStation to create a monopoly in game consoles and consistently extended its results providing more than its rivals.
Influential in PlayStation’s rise to supremacy, Shuhei Yoshida personally fronts PlayStation to this day, evolving as a brand for thirty years. The company is blessed to have a charismatic leader who understands well the video game industry and product development fascination.

As the current director of the Independent Developer Initiative, he has directly contributed towards a fulfilling environment for indie developers on PlayStation platforms.
