A Fresh Take on the Series

If we’re talking about a popular gaming series, Yakuza (Like a Dragon). Naturally, images of street battles and Japan’s vibrant nightlife will come to mind. However, in this current series, players will experience sea fights and ship wars as if they were pirates. Introducing Goro Majima, the new face of this game series, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii combines yakuza and pirate elements.

Pirate Life

In Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, there is more to do than just playing on land; players will also be able to make up their pirate crew by gathering different characters that have special skills and talents which will play an important part in the real sailing of open seas and participation in thrilling ship battles.

In such a case, ship combat in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is quite captivating in real-time. Be able to participate in smart naval battles and use your ship’s cannons and boarding teams to beat enemies. However, that is not all. If you are feeling bold, you might also board the enemy’s ship itself, whereby you get to fight against its crew in close combat.

Story, Familiar Faces, and New Allies

So, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is all about Goro Majima, you know, the infamous “Mad Dog of Shimano.” This time, he’s playing the part of a pirate in today’s world. With Hawaii as the cool backdrop, Majima and his gang go on this wild adventure at sea, hunting for treasure and battling other pirates. So, the whole game is about Majima trying to cling to conquest and glory amidst challenges on the sea and land. It falls within that whole Like a Dragon universe, picking up from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but with a cool pirate spin.

Majima joins forces with new characters, including Jason Rich, a former treasure hunter and bar owner, as well as the colorful pirate Mortimer and the returning Taiga Saejima. They look into the Hawaiian islands, particularly Madlantis, a pirate refuge where Majima fights criminal groups.

Combat and Gameplay

Two Totally Different Fighting Styles: Mad Dog Style: So, this is Majima’s OG, super fast fighting style from earlier games like Yakuza Kiwami 2. It’s all about those quick, acrobatic moves, letting Majima hit hard and fast with his fists and a dagger. Plus, it’s got some cool airborne stuff, so you can toss enemies up into the air and keep on attacking them with aerial combos.

Sea Dog Style: So, this is a completely different style in the game. It’s kind of pirate-themed and has cutlasses along with various other pirate weapons. Majima can wield dual cutlasses, throw them in a boomerang fashion, and even utilize things like the Charge Gun and Chain Hook to strike enemies from a distance or quickly dash towards them. The whole idea behind this style is to make fights more ranged and tactical in nature.

Doppelganger Mechanic: So, in the Mad Dog style, Majima can kick off this Madness Gauge thing that lets him call in doppelgangers to fight with him. It’s pretty wild because it cranks up the chaos and intensity in battles, and he can do these spinning attacks with his clones, making a total whirlwind of damage!

Naval Battles: They added this sweet feature where Majima and the gang are able to battle on ships with cannons and pirate moves. It’s almost a complete reboot of the usual fighting style, taking it to the open seas!

Easy Style Switching: During fights, players can completely switch between styles in Mad Dog and Sea Dog; this realizes a very entertaining and flexible combat strategy. The fact that it allows players to adapt to different enemies and situations really brings a cool depth into the gameplay.
